LOS ANGELES, April 6 (UPI) -- Farrah Fawcett's physician says the U.S. actress, who has been battling cancer and is hospitalized, remains in good spirits.
The 62-year-old celebrity is best known for her role in the TV series "Charlie's Angels." She was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006.
Fawcett's doctor, Lawrence Piro, M.D., told People.com the actress underwent a "small procedure" in Germany and flew home to recover at a Los Angeles hospital.
"She remains in good spirits with her usual sense of humor," Piro said. "She's been in great shape her whole life and has an incredible resolve and an incredible resilience."
Craig Nevius, a producer who has worked with the actress and who says he is authorized to speak on her behalf, said in a statement issued to People.com, "Farrah has hope, and she hopes that others will continue to hold onto theirs."
She is expected to return home in a few days, Nevius said.
