NEW YORK, March 17 (UPI) -- Jesse Eisenberg, Chris Evans and Ben Whishaw have been cast in "Kill Your Darlings," representatives for the film about the U.S. Beat era said.

John Krokidas and his former Yale roommate Austin Bunn penned the script, and Krokidas is slated to make his feature directorial debut on the movie about a slaying linked to the birth of the Beat Generation, said a release issued by the International House of Publicity.

Whishaw will play Lucien Carr, the Columbia University undergraduate who brought together young scribes Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs "with the dream of starting a literary revolution," the release said.

Carr spent two years in a New York prison for the 1944 stabbing death of an alleged stalker he said attacked him. He then went on to work for United Press International for 47 years, retiring from running the wire service's national copy desk in 1993. He died in 2005 at the age of 79.

Eisenberg will play Ginsberg and Evans is set to portray Kerouac.

Killer Films's Christine Vachon is producing "Darlings" with D/F Management's Steve Dontanville executive producing.
