LOS ANGELES, March 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. online movie ticket broker Fandango says it is seeing strong advance ticket sales for the film "Watchmen," which opens Friday.

The company said Monday that director Zack Snyder's big-screen adaptation of Alan Moore's comic book series comprises 61 percent of all sales on Fandango and is far outpacing advance tickets sold for Snyder's previous movie, "300," at the same point in that film's sales cycle.

Dozens of midnight Thursday night showtimes for the film are sold out on Fandango, the company added.

Moviegoers purchasing tickets for "Watchmen" or "Watchmen: The IMAX Experience" on Fandango will receive a free download of bonus content on iTunes, including the first chapter of "Watchmen Motion Comics," plus a sneak peek of "Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter."

Details of the promotion are available at www.fandango.com/promo/watchmen.

Fans can also enter a Fandango sweepstakes for a chance to win a "Watchmen" fan pack, including a limited edition "Watchmen"-branded Xbox 360 Console, a Myvu Personal Media Viewer, the film's soundtrack and other prizes.
