Rihanna's father criticizes photo release

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Ronald Fenty, father of pop singer Rihanna, says the release of a photograph of his daughter after a Los Angeles abuse incident was "sloppy work."

Fenty indicated Los Angeles police should not have leaked the photograph showing his famous daughter with bruises on her face following her alleged assault at the hands of her boyfriend, singer Chris Brown, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

"Sloppy work on their part," Fenty said of Los Angeles police.

But Fenty did say the leaked photograph of his daughter, who turned 21 Friday, did allow the public to see first-hand the degree of the singer's injuries.

"It's good and it's bad to see the picture, because there's other people who were thinking differently, that (her injuries) may not be that bad," Fenty said of his daughter, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

The Daily News said Brown, 19, is free on $50,000 bail after being charged with suspicion of making criminal threats.
