LONDON, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- U.S. songwriter Diane Warren says she is writing the lyrics for the British song entry in the Eurovision Song Contest this year.
The writer behind such U.S. hits as Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart" and LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live" said she was honored to be working with composer Andrew Lloyd Webber on the 2009 Eurovision entry, the BBC reported Saturday.
"I hope that a song from Andrew Lloyd Webber and me will spell a change of fortune for the U.K. at Eurovision," Warren said, referring to the United Kingdom's struggles during recent Eurovision contests.
"We will write the best song possible for the event and for the artist."
Webber said he is eager to begin working with Warren on the Eurovision song entry.
"This is a massively new direction for me and I cannot wait to get started," the British composer said.
The BBC said the finalized song will be performed in the international competition by the winner of the ongoing BBC One TV competition "Your Country Needs You."
