'Holby' star Chambers wins 'Come Dancing'

LONDON, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- British TV actor Tom Chambers, star of "Holby City," has won the BBC One dance competition series "Strictly Come Dancing."

Clare Harding said her 31-year-old husband had been intently practicing his dancing skills to defeat pop star Rachel Stevens in this weekend's finale, The Sunday Times of London reported.

"He has told me he is happiest on the dance floor," sad Harding, who married Chambers during the sixth season of the dancing series. "He has worked so hard for 14 weeks to get here."

Harding, 26, said her new husband was so dedicated to winning the popular British TV competition that he was practicing with his "Dancing" partner, Camilla Dallerup, the day after their October wedding.

But after his win Saturday, Chambers remembered to thank the woman who supported him throughout the competition, The Times reported.

"The first person I want to thank is my wife," Chambers said after being announced the champion.
