LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- A private funeral for Los Angeles hairstylist Scott Ruffalo is being planned, a representative for his film star brother Mark has announced.

Scott Ruffalo died Monday night at the age of 39, a week after suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

A female suspect in the shooting, who turned herself in to Beverly Hills police earlier Monday after a warrant was issued for her arrest, reportedly has claimed Ruffalo was a regular drug user who shot himself playing Russian roulette in his condo.

The Los Angeles Times said suspect Shaha Mishaal Adham, who had been held without bail in connection with the case, was released from the Beverly Hills jail Tuesday night.

The Times said Ruffalo, who had been in critical condition since the shooting, died after his family decided to take him off of life support.

"Mark Ruffalo and his family deeply appreciate the outpouring of prayers and support during this most difficult time of the passing of Scott Ruffalo, beloved son, brother and husband. The funeral service will be private. A memorial fund has been established in Scott Ruffalo's name," Mark Ruffalo's publicist said in a statement issued on behalf of the family to TMZ.
