Blur planning 2009 reunion gig

LONDON, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- The British pop group Blur, which hasn't released a new album since 2003, has announced plans to perform a reunion concert in London next summer.

The BBC said the band is scheduled to play in Hyde Park July 3, but will also perform a series of warm-up gigs leading up to the big event.

"We haven't rehearsed at all," frontman Damon Albarn told NME. "(Guitarist Graham Coxon and I have) played together a bit, but not all of us yet."

"It's odd, I suppose, but it's quite a nice feeling that that is around the corner," Coxon added.

Asked what it will be like to have the whole group back together playing, Coxon replied: "That's going to be funny; that's just going to make me laugh. It will be funny to see our four faces again in such close proximity in such a positive way because the last time there were four of us together it was really weird."
