'Boston Legal' poised to end 5-year run

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- The conclusion of "Boston Legal" seems to reflect the current U.S. economic climate, according to information released by ABC Monday.

Due to financial difficulties, fictional law firm Crane Poole and Schmidt may be sold, as the show comes to a close after a five-year run with a two-hour series finale scheduled to air Dec. 8.

The finale will also see Alan Shore (James Spader) heading to the Supreme Court to get Denny Crane (William Shatner) a non-FDA approved drug that may slow down his Alzheimer's disease while Shirley Schmidt (Candice Bergen) and Carl Sack (John Larroquette) plan their wedding, ABC said.

Original cast member Rene Auberjonois is also slated to reprise his role as Paul Lewiston on the last episode.

The quirky lawyer drama "Boston Legal" is a spin-off of "The Practice."
