LOS ANGELES, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Dominic Monaghan and Freddy Rodriguez have signed on to headline Swiss writer-director Barthelemy Grossmann's futuristic horror thriller "Fortuna."

The Hollywood Reporter said "Fortuna" is set in 2100 and focuses on an Earth where "a collapsed economy and climate crises have eliminated the middle class, leaving a few very wealthy and the teeming masses in severe poverty."

The elite offer as a solution "Fortuna," a mysterious game in which one in 1,000 people win a prize enabling him or her to join the upper class; however, the challenge comes with some risk since contestants are never again seen by the general population.

Grossmann is expected to begin his six-week shoot Nov. 10 in Sofia, Bulgaria, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
