LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Sharon Stone has lost physical custody of her 8-year-old son Roan to her ex-husband Phil Bronstein, "Entertainment Tonight" reported Tuesday.

The celebrity news program cited court documents detailing a Sept. 12 custody hearing as the source of its report.

"ET" said the court papers noted Bronstein, a former newspaper editor, "shall have permanent sole physical custody of child. Court finds that Respondent (Sharon Stone) failed to meet her burden of proof and denies Respondent's (Sharon Stone's) request for modification of custody. The judge also notes this order is permanent unless there is a change of circumstances."

Stone and Bronstein, who married in 1998 and divorced in early 2004, previously shared joint legal and physical custody of their adopted son, Roan. Stone adopted two other boys after her divorce from Bronstein.

The actress is best known for her roles in "Sliver," "Total Recall" and "Basic Instinct."
