LONDON, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson says he is enjoying his new career as a pilot, even managing to help a group of stranded passengers reach Egypt.

The hard rocker who now works for the British airline Astraeus said stepping in to fly a group of 221 passengers from London to Egypt Saturday was all just part of his new chosen profession, the Mail on Sunday reported.

"I was just doing my job. I was called out like a lot of other pilots to help and I was obviously happy to do that," Dickinson said. "Some of the people on the flight were obviously frustrated by the situation they had found themselves in but everyone was pretty good-natured about it all."

The British newspaper said Dickinson serves as his band's pilot when they are on tour.
