HONOLULU, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Daniel Dae Kim, the actor best known for playing Jin on the TV series "Lost," reportedly has pleaded no contest to drunken driving in Hawaii.
The Honolulu Star-Bulletin said Honolulu District Judge William Cardwell sentenced Kim to pay a $500 fine and perform 72 hours of community service as part of the plea deal.
Cardwell also ordered the 40-year-old actor to pay $412 in fees, but the judge said he will deduct $200 from that if Kim completes a 14-hour alcohol rehabilitation program.
Kim was arrested last October after he was pulled over for allegedly driving erratically.
"You need to understand that 0.168 is more that double the legal limit. It means you were seriously impaired. And it just cannot happen again. It's simply too dangerous," the Star-Bulletin quoted Cardwell as telling Kim.
"Believe me, sir, I do," replied the actor, who also had his driver's license suspended for six months. It has since been reinstated.
"I'm just grateful and relieved that this matter is resolved," Kim said. "It's been a pretty difficult time for my family and me. But I'm glad I had a chance to take responsibility for my mistake."
"Lost" is filmed in Hawaii. Several other current and former cast members have also been arrested there for drunken driving over the years.
