The Verve releases first album in 11 years

WIGAN, England, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Back with its first new album in 11 years, British rockers the Verve said they wish they'd never broken up.

"Looking back I don't think we had to be so blunt and, 'Alright, we're splitting up!' really," says bassist Simon Jones. "We should've just chilled out for a bit and taken some time out, to be honest. But obviously we all had a deep yearning inside to get back to do this or it wouldn't have happened.

"I just hope we don't split up again."

The Verve has broken up twice before, briefly in 1996 and again in 1999, following its multiplatinum album "Urban Hymns" and a legal battle with the Rolling Stones' publishing company over a sample that left the quartet without royalties from its hit "Bittersweet Symphony."

The Verve reconvened in 2007 and recorded the new album, "Forth," straightaway. Jones says the band is "definitely an ongoing concern" again and will be touring the world in support of the album.
