NEW YORK, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Michael Shoemaker has been named as producer of the upcoming U.S. chat show, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," NBC said.
The showrunner goes to "Late Night" with more than 20 years of experience at "Saturday Night Live." His new post was announced Thursday by "Late Night" and "Saturday Night Live" executive producer Lorne Michaels.
"Mike was at the center of all things good at 'Saturday Night Live' for the last 20 years," Michaels said in a statement. "He'll do a great job with Jimmy."
"I feel lucky to have Mike on my team. I've always admired his work ethic and his great relationship with writers and the whole creative process," Fallon said. "Not to mention he's also brilliantly funny."
Fallon is to appear in a series of Webisodes of "Late Night" leading up to the show's spring broadcast premiere, NBC said.
