LOS ANGELES, July 31 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner has ruled that Jamie Spears will retain conservatorship over his daughter Britney's affairs until Dec. 31.

"Ms. Spears is reluctantly agreeing to extend the temporary (conservatorship)," Usmagazine.com quoted Commissioner Reva Goetz as saying after Thursday's hearing.

Goetz added that it is possible Jamie Spears's conservatorship may be "terminated earlier" and she set a status hearing for the case for Oct. 28.

The pop singer's father and attorney Andrew Wallet were granted conservatorship over her affairs after she was hospitalized for psychiatric treatment this year.

Since her dad has been helping out, Spears's behavior reportedly has been less erratic. She has also been spending more time with her two young sons and was recently nominated for an MTV Video Music Award.
