ABC: Zach Braff leaving 'Scrubs'

LOS ANGELES, July 17 (UPI) -- Actor Zach Braff is to leave "Scrubs" at the end of the TV comedy's upcoming eighth season, showrunner Bill Lawrence said in Los Angeles.

Variety.com reported that Lawrence didn't say the show;s run will end with Braff's departure, however.

The entertainment industry trade paper also noted that Braff said he would be up for appearing as a guest star on the series.

"The end of the show will be about J.D. leaving the hospital," Lawrence said. "When you leave, it's about holding on to your relationships."

Asked how long "Scrubs" might continue, Lawrence said, "You can't kill this show."

"Next year we'll be on CBS," Braff joked, referring to how the show has moved to ABC for its next season after spending the last seven seasons on NBC.
