LOS ANGELES, July 13 (UPI) -- Popular radio host Wendy Williams, who is about to make the foray into live U.S. television, says she has succeeded in the radio industry's "boy's club."
The radio personality will star in a new Fox daytime talk show, "The Wendy Williams Show," but it was her work in radio that earned her the coveted spot of TV host, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday.
"When I think of myself doing well in radio, I don't think of myself as the most celebrated black woman. No, I'm the most celebrated woman in radio. And my achievements rival all the boys. So I'm in the boys' club," she said. "And there's room for all of us on daytime TV."
The Times said Williams, who has a syndicated radio show in Southern California, also downplayed allegations of sexual harassment made against her husband by one of her former staffers.
"There's shock and, of course, feelings of betrayal," said Williams, whose new show debuts Monday. "But if anything, this has made us even closer. Because you see this is all happening at the same time as we have this TV show."
