LOS ANGELES, July 10 (UPI) -- Van Halen singer David Lee Roth is denying a report that Canadian cops saved his life when he went into anaphylactic shock from eating nuts while driving.
Canada.com quoted Ontario Provincial Police Tuesday as saying officers pulled Roth over in May for erratic driving near the rural town of Oakland, and saw he was suffering from an apparent medical condition, possibly an allergic reaction, and called an ambulance.
The Web site said police waited with Roth until paramedics arrived.
Roth was then to a local hospital, where he was treated for an allergic reaction to nuts and then released, TMZ.com had reported Tuesday.
In a statement to TMZ.com Thursday, however, Roth said: "I was in Canada only from (July 1-4) for a performance at the Quebec City Summer Festival. I had no encounters or incidents with the police. The only thing I'm allergic to is criticism. -- Love, Dave."
