NEW YORK, July 5 (UPI) -- Architect Peter Cook says he and model Christie Brinkley called a temporary truce to their heated New York divorce battle to enjoy the Fourth of July holiday.

The 49-year-old said he was able to pick up his adopted son, Jack, from Brinkley's home without incident so they could enjoy a holiday celebration, The New York Daily News reported Saturday.

"I didn't see Christie when I went to the house," said Cook, who has been targeted during the first two days of the divorce trial. "I just picked up my son."

Meanwhile, Brinkley and her daughter Alexa Joel spent the holiday in the New York village of Sag Harbor with her former husband, singer Billy Joel.

The 54-year-old model has custodial rights to both Jack, her son with her former husband Ricky Taubman, and Sailor Lee, Cook's biological 10-year-old daughter.

The former couple have been fighting over those custody rights in a New York court and have spared no attacks in their attempts to win the custody dispute, the Daily News reported.
