BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., July 5 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Jessica Alba said she intends to be a tough yet supportive mother to her newborn daughter when she is older.

The "Fantastic Four" star, who gave birth to Honor Marie Warren nearly a month ago, said she does not plan on becoming her child's "best friend," but will focus her efforts on maintaining a strong parental relationship, The Daily Mail said Saturday.

"I don't want to be my child's best friend; I want to be a mom," Alba said. "But I do want my child to come to me when they have problems and need to talk, so it's going to be about treading that line."

Since giving birth in Los Angeles last month, the 27-year-old actress has apparently been working hard to reach her former curvaceous physique, the British newspaper reported.

The "Sin City" actress was seen this week with new husband Cash Warren on a shopping trip in Beverly Hills, Calif.
