HOLLYWOOD, June 14 (UPI) -- Hollywood stars and directors say they are gladly embracing the new generation of new environmentally friendly automobiles.
"Crash" director Paul Haggis said while he owns four gas-conserving Toyota Priuses, he is eager for the opportunity to drive the new hydrogen-powered Honda FCX Clarity, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.
"I want one. I want one," the Oscar-winning writer said.
Haggis's apparent obsession with eco-friendly vehicles is indicative of a trend in Hollywood away from fancy sports cars and toward more socially responsible transportation, the Times said.
"'Til Death" star Joely Fisher is another star attempting to make a global difference by thinking about the environment while car-shopping.
Fisher, who plays Joy Stark on the Fox TV series, said seeing celebrities in such vehicles can help influence the general public to think green.
"I want to do everything I can to make sure that people know that the technology is available and we are not far off from having this on the road," Fisher said.
