LONDON, June 11 (UPI) -- An 800-word "Harry Potter" prequel penned by the series' author J.K. Rowling reportedly has been sold for $50,000 at an auction held at Waterstone's in London.

Cards featuring original stories written by Rowling, Nick Hornby, Doris Lessing, Margaret Atwood, Lauren Child, Sebastian Faulks, Tom Stoppard, Irvine Welsh and others were sold at auction to raise money for English PEN, a charity that promotes understanding through literature, as well as the group Dyslexia Action, the BBC said.

"I had great fun writing the card and I'm absolutely delighted that it has raised $50,000 for two such worthy causes," Rowling said.
