LOS ANGELES, June 11 (UPI) -- Lifetime Television executives say they ordered 13 episodes of a new half-hour U.S. comedy, "Rita Rocks," starring Nicole Sullivan and Tisha Campbell-Martin.
Sullivan has starred on "MADtv" and in "The King of Queens," while Campbell-Martin is best known for her roles in "My Wife and Kids" and "Martin."
Susanne Daniels, president of entertainment for Lifetime Networks, said the show is to premiere this fall.
Richard Ruccolo from "Joey" and "Two Guys and a Girl" will co-star in the new series, which stars Sullivan as Rita Clements, a married working mom, "who regains her identity by recreating her glory days as a musician in a garage band," Lifetime said.
"For our first original prime-time comedy series in a decade, we've assembled a fantastic team, in front of and behind the camera. The gifted and simply hilarious Nicole Sullivan leads a phenomenal cast, produced by our wonderful partners at Media Rights Capital," Daniels said in a statement. "Our loyal viewers are fans of our comedy programming and we know they will think Rita rocks too!"
