PALM BEACH, Fla., May 26 (UPI) -- Two paintings by famed artist Pablo Picasso, with a combined worth of about $450,000, have been snatched from a Florida art gallery, police said.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel said "Le Repas Frugal" and "Jacqueline Lisant" were stolen last week from the the privately owned Gallery Biba in Palm Beach.

"This looks like they targeted this stuff," police Sgt. Mike Dawson told the newspaper, noting the paintings were the only items stolen. "Some paintings in there are worth more than that."

The gallery also has other, more valuable Picassos, as well as works by Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg among its holdings, Dawson said.

Police were called to the scene by the gallery's alarm company in the middle of the night after the thieves smashed a pane of glass in a French door in the back of the gallery to gain access, Dawson told the Sun-Sentinel.

The culprits and the paintings were gone by the time police arrived.
