Kid Rock wins Michigan assault lawsuit

PONTIAC, Mich., April 19 (UPI) -- A circuit court jury in Pontiac, Mich., ruled in favor of Kid Rock this week in a lawsuit filed by a woman who alleged the singer assaulted her last year.

The rock singer, whose real name is Robert Ritchie Jr., had been accused by Kelly Ann Kozlowski of grabbing her in March 2007 and shoving her out of his studio near Clarkston, Mich., The Detroit News reported Saturday.

During the trial, Kozlowski acknowledged during her testimony that she didn't report the alleged assault until the next afternoon because she had been drinking and wanted to discuss the incident with her family.

"I was scared of the consequences," Kozlowski said. "I didn't want it to be a big deal. All I wanted him to do was to get into trouble for what he did to me."

The ensuing police investigation failed to find evidence to support Kozlowski's allegations and Ritchie filed a defamation lawsuit against her. She countered with her own lawsuit, asking for damages.
