Sequel to 'We Will Rock You' in the works

LONDON, April 16 (UPI) -- Queen guitarist Brian May has confirmed a second stage musical built around the British rock group's songbook is in the works.

"We Will Rock You," which was written and directed by Ben Elton, first opened in London in May 2002. Later staged in Australia, Spain, Russia, the United States, Japan and Germany, as well, it reportedly has been seen by an estimated 2 million people.

"We are planning the sequel," the BBC quoted May as saying at a ceremony to install him as the chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University. "It is a real challenge."

May also said the band is set for a fall concert tour and new CD.

"The long arm of Queen has pulled me back in at the moment. It is a beast," May said. "We've pressed the button to go on tour this autumn so already the preparations are very consuming. We've chosen our set, we've chosen our environment on tour. It is very exciting, very exciting indeed. Very time-consuming, but Queen always was consuming."
