Stars line up for 'New York' anthology

LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- Shia LaBeouf, Julie Christie and John Hurt are to star in the late writer Anthony Minghella's segment of the movie "New York, I Love You."

"New York" is an anthology of 12 short films set in the city's five boroughs.

Minghella wrote and was planning to direct a vignette for the movie before he died last month. It is now to be directed by Shekhar Kapur.

Natalie Portman will make her writing and directing debut on the film, while Scarlett Johansson, her co-star in "The Other Boleyn Girl," will helm a separate segment, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The cast of the collection of short films includes Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Chris Cooper, Anton Yelchin, Drea de Matteo, Ethan Hawke and Kevin Bacon.

Also set to appear are Carlos Acosta, Justin Bartha, Bradley Cooper, Irfan Khan, Cloris Leachman, Blake Lively, Emilie Ohana, Natalie Portman, Maggie Q, Shu Qi, Olivia Thirlby, Eli Wallach, Saul Williams, Robin Wright Penn, Anton Yelchin and Ugur Yucel, The Hollywood Reporter said.
