STANFORD, Calif., April 8 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Patrick Swayze told a U.S. magazine he is thrilled with the response he is having to his treatment for pancreatic cancer.

Swayze, 55, announced last month he had been diagnosed with the disease. He has been undergoing chemotherapy, not radiation treatment, his representative told People.com.

"We're thrilled and grateful for the positive response Patrick has shown towards his treatment," Swayze and his wife Lisa Niemi told People magazine. "Also, we can't help but feel that all the prayers, meditations and good thoughts sent his way by everyone has made a difference. Thank you!"

Swayze's physician, Dr. George Fisher, told the magazine: "Patrick Swayze continues to respond well to his treatment for pancreatic cancer. Because of his excellent response, he will continue the same therapy at Stanford."

Swayze is best known for his roles in "The Outsiders," "Dirty Dancing," "Point Break" and "Ghost."
