Klugman suing NBC for 'Quincy' royalties

NEW YORK, March 29 (UPI) -- Actor Jack Klugman is suing NBC, alleging the U.S. entertainment group owes him royalties from the TV series "Quincy M.E."

Klugman alleges in his lawsuit that NBC told him "Quincy" accumulated $66 million in fiscal losses before the end of fiscal year 2006, meaning there were no "net profits" to share with the series' former star, TMZ.com reported Friday.

While Klugman alleges he and his Sweater Productions company are entitled to 25 percent of any profits from the 1970s and 80s dramatic series, his suit makes no claims regarding the amount of profits to date.

The actor alleges when he attempted to see the financial paperwork regarding the former NBC series, the network informed him they were "unable to comply with your request ... because it is NBC Universal's policy not to provide copies of talent contracts or other confidential documents."

"Quincy M.E.," which followed Klugman's title character as he attempted to solve crimes, was canceled in 1983.
