Artist Z tapped for Titanic comic book

SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 11 (UPI) -- The Save the Titanic Foundation has announced it has chosen Serbian artist Zeljko "Z" Srdic to illustrate its limited edition comic book.

Many of Z's paintings are on the walls of World Financial Center's offices in New York, said the foundation, which describes itself as a non-profit organization established "for the honor and the commemoration of the international dreams aboard the Titanic."

The group said its main goal is to aid the preservation of the sunken ocean liner.

"The Titanic captures the imagination of all people throughout the world, bringing people together in a common bond that bridges the gap between race, nationality and creed. Z is just another example of how the Titanic can bring people as far away from the United States as Serbia to unite in a common brotherhood," Kevin D. Finn, founding member and co-chairman of the foundation, said in a statement.

"Art breaks boundaries... and it is our sincere hope that the Save the Titanic Foundation's comic book will be seen as tool to unite people from all over the world in their efforts to preserve one of the most historical landmarks our planet has ever seen."
