NEW YORK, March 6 (UPI) -- U.S. talk show host Whoopi Goldberg wished Patrick Swayze well, describing the cancer-stricken actor as "a man I adore" on "The View" Thursday.
Representatives for Swayze this week confirmed the "Dirty Dancing" star had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Goldberg, who co-starred with Swayze in the 1990 supernatural romance "Ghost," brought the subject up on Thursday's show by saying, "Speaking of a man I adore..."
"There's been a lot of talk on television and in the news about my friend Patrick Swayze. Now, I have not spoken to him," Goldberg said. "But, I will tell you that his physician went public and said he has a very limited amount of the disease and appears to be responding well to treatment."
Goldberg then recalled how when she won the Oscar for her work in "Ghost," "the only person I really thanked was Patrick."
She said that was because Swayze fought for her to get the role, adding, "I won an Oscar because of Patrick Swayze."
"Baby, as always," she said, looking at the camera and blowing him a kiss. "We want you to know, we want you to feel better. We'll talk soon I hope."
