Cape Town getting class on acting in U.S.

LOS ANGELES, March 6 (UPI) -- TVI Actors Studio, a U.S. school and resource center for actors, is taking its program to South Africa to teach actors how to market themselves abroad.

Alan Nusbaum, founder and chief executive officer of TVI Actors Studio, is scheduled to teach "The Business of Acting in America -- An International Actors Guide to Working in New York and Los Angeles," March 20-22 in Cape Town.

"There was a clear need for actors to learn how to manage their careers. I encourage actors to treat an acting career like a business and market themselves where the work exists," Nusbaum said in a statement. "Actors will come away from the class with knowledge and insight on how to make it in America. But, more importantly, how to apply the same self-marketing skills at home."

TVI said Nusbaum created the company after years of working as a talent agent, representing actors like Sandra Bullock, Courtney Cox and Jerry Orbach.
