NEW YORK, March 5 (UPI) -- U.S. television and film actor Jerry O'Connell is set to take part in a race across the Scottish Highlands, Drambuie liqueur announced Wednesday.
The former child star is now married to actress Rebecca Romijn and can be seen in the TV series "Carpoolers."
He has signed up to participate in the 2008 Drambuie Pursuit, in which 10 teams race through the Scottish Highlands, retracing the legendary voyage of Bonnie Prince Charlie for whom the Drambuie elixir is said to have been created in 1745.
To take place next month, the competition will see teams "demonstrate their spirit of adventure by kayaking through rushing rapids, rappelling steep mountain faces and performing numerous other feats of endurance, as they traverse the inhospitable terrain of the Highlands," Drambuie said.
"I am thrilled to take part in the Drambuie Pursuit," O'Connell said in a statement. "I can't wait to race across the Scottish Highlands and take part in this exciting and unique journey -- and I'm confident that my team will win."
"Jerry mirrors the rebellion and passion of Bonnie Prince Charlie, and we can't wait to follow him through Scotland during this adventure of a lifetime," added Valerie Fender, Drambuie's marketing manager.
