Collector donates modern works to museums

EDINBURGH, Scotland, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Art collector and dealer Anthony d'Offay is donating hundreds of modern works for display at the National Galleries of Scotland and the Tate in England.

The collection, which is said to be worth nearly $250 million, includes 725 pieces.

Among them are paintings, photographs, sculptures, installations and videos by artists such as Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst and Robert Mapplethorpe, The Scotsman reported Wednesday.

Tate and the National Galleries will manage the collection together, with d'Offay acting as curator, the newspaper said.
