The Mirror newspaper in Britain said Terri Irwin, Steve Irwin's widow, confirmed their son, Robert, was nipped by a boa constrictor.

"He picked one of them up and it bit him on the finger. He was so proud to have copped his first hit. He said, 'I hope it wasn't venomous,' so I assured him I wouldn't let him play with venomous ones," Terri Irwin said, adding Robert's big sister, Bindi, was first bitten by a snake when she was 18 months old.

Steve Irwin, known as the "Crocodile Hunter," died in 2006 at the age of 44 when he was pierced in the heart by the barb of a stingray while snorkeling at Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

Lohan channels Monroe in mag spread

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Hollywood starlet Lindsay Lohan channels late screen icon Marilyn Monroe in a new photo spread for New York magazine.

People.com said the sexy photos were inspired by Monroe's last 1962 shoot with photographer Bert Stern.

"I was comfortable with it," Lohan said of posing for the new pictorial series shot by Stern.

In an interview accompanying the spread, the 21-year-old actress admitted she sees a link between Monroe's fatal drug overdose at age 36 and Heath Ledger's recent accidental death, caused by a lethal combination of prescription drugs, at the age of 28.

"They are both prime examples of what this industry can do to someone," Lohan told New York magazine.

However, the actress, who has spent time in rehab to treat her own substance-abuse problems, vowed she won't let her own life and career be cut so short.

"I don't know. I'm not them. But I sure as hell wouldn't let it happen to me," she said.
