LOS ANGELES, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Actor and filmmaker Emilio Estevez is planning to follow up his 2006 movie "Bobby" with "The Public," another Los Angeles-set ensemble drama.

The Hollywood Reporter said the new film is inspired by a Los Angeles Times op-ed piece written by a retiring librarian, who wanted to discuss the issue of libraries becoming havens for homeless and mentally ill people due to cuts in social programs.

Estevez is in the casting process and said he hopes to start shooting the movie March 26 in Los Angeles, the trade paper said.

"I really enjoy shooting in LA and I think, that in the middle of a strike, to put 200 Angelenos to work is significant," Estevez said.
