'Grey's' star was hospitalized this week

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Actor Justin Chambers was treated at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles this week for exhaustion and a sleep disorder, a report said.

Chambers, who plays Dr. Alex Karev on the ABC medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," voluntarily checked himself in to a real-life hospital psychiatric ward Monday and left Wednesday, TMZ.com reported Thursday.

A representative for the married father of five told the entertainment news Web site the actor was "exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder."

"He went in voluntarily to get some help," the spokesperson said.

Chambers stayed in the same ward where pop singer Britney Spears was admitted early Thursday morning, TMZ.com said.

After spotting Chambers wearing sunglasses inside at the Screen Actors Guild Awards show Sunday night, the Los Angeles Times teased the actor in its SAG recap for having the "Worst Awards Show Etiquette."
