TORONTO, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Canadian singer Anne Murray says she was "dragged kicking and screaming" into her latest album.

"Duets" features Murray reprising some of her biggest hits with other superstar singers, including Shania Twain, k.d. lang, Celine Dion, the Indigo Girls, Olivia Newton-John and Carole King. The duets idea was her record company's while Murray insisted that her partners all be women.

"At first (the label) said, 'No, no, we couldn't do that,'" Murray recalls, "but I just thought it would narrow the playing field down a bit. Then first four people who said yes were women, so we said, 'Well, the writing must be on the wall there ..."

"Duets" also includes a posthumous duet on "I Just Fall in Love Again" with Dusty Springfield and a teaming with Murray's own daughter, Dawn Langstroth, on "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do."
