LONG BEACH, Calif., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor William Shatner said he plans to participate in "Star Trek: The Tour," a traveling exhibit honoring the decades-old TV show and movie franchise.

Featuring hundreds of original costumes and props, as well as recreations of sets from the sci-fi show and movies, the attraction opened Friday in Long Beach, Calif., and is set to travel to 40 North American cities during the next five years, The Orange County Register reported.

"My face will pop up all over the place in the tour," said Shatner, who played Capt. Kirk on the iconic series and in several "Star Trek" films. "My being will pop up on the opening day and at other times, too. And I'll be talking to people like yourself about what a great piece of entertainment it is for all the family."
