TEMPE, Ariz., Jan. 15 (UPI) -- The California-based rock band Counting Crows has reportedly agreed to headline a free Super Bowl concert at Arizona's Tempe Town Lake.

The Super Bowl Saturday Night gig slated to take place Feb. 2 marks the first time the National Football League has planned an official celebration on the eve of its biggest game, the Arizona Republic said Tuesday.

Super Bowl XLII is scheduled to be played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale Feb. 3, with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers set to perform during the game's half-time show.
