Wynn suing over burst pipe at condo

NEW YORK, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Casino mogul Steve Wynn is suing the management of his New York condominium and its former owner for damage incurred when a water pipe burst years ago.

In the Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit, the casino developer alleges the management and his home's former owner did not properly maintain the condominium, leading to the December 2004 incident, the New York Post said Sunday.

Wynn and his wife Elaine allege that due to the ruptured pipe, the condominium and most of their personal belongings were significantly damaged.

Wynn bought the 3,900-square-foot apartment from Mirage Resorts in 2001 for $7 million.

The condominium building once counted actor Richard Gere among its residents, but the "Pretty Woman" star later sold his home for $1 million less than he originally paid for it.

The Post said the building also was involved in a lawsuit against former President Richard Nixon, when its occupants attempted to have the head of state's secret service detail removed from the building.
