LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- British actor Eddie Izzard says the U.S. cable TV series "The Riches" allows him to play out a bit of the darker side of his personality.
With the first season DVD set of the FX drama due for release this week, the British comedian said portraying the series' lead character allowed him to explore his dark side and bring it to surface, the New York Post reported Sunday.
"Everyone has a dark side. The devil is inside us all," said Izzard, who plays con man Wayne Malloy on the cable show. "We have it inside us to all go bats-crazy in many ways. So it's great to have a role where you can explore that."
"The Riches" follows Malloy and his wife, played by actress Minnie Driver, as they pretend to be a wealthy couple who died in a tragic car crash.
Despite his success as a dramatic actor in "The Riches," Izzard told the Post he will never stop embracing his comedic roots. Still, he said he keeps his instincts in check when filming the dramatic series.
