AFI names top 10 movies of 2007

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- The American Film Institute's list of the top 10 movies of 2007 includes a gross-out comedy and an animated feature, along with more conventional choices.

The list, announced Sunday, includes such critical favorites as "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead," "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" -- but the AFI also honored the R-rated comedy "Knocked Up" and Pixar's computer-animated "Ratatouille."

The list also included "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"; "Into the Wild"; "Juno"; "Michael Clayton"; and "The Savages."

The AFI also announced its choices for the top 10 TV shows of the year -- including "Dexter"; "Everybody Hates Chris"; "Friday Night Lights"; "Longford" and "Mad Men." The rest of the AFI top 10 TV shows: "Pushing Daisies"; "The Sopranos"; "Tell Me You Love Me"; "30 Rock"; and "Ugly Betty."

AFI, based in Los Angeles, was established to preserve the legacy of moving pictures.

The organization will present the awards Jan. 11 in ceremonies in Los Angeles.
