More than 33,000 fans helped the airline choose the moniker from a short list of three. Spice One won with 56 percent of the vote, beating out Girl Power and Spice Girl.

"It's fantastic to have a plane named in our honor. We wish everyone who travels on board Spice One has a great flight," the singers said in a statement released by Virgin Atlantic.

Richard Branson, president of Virgin Atlantic, said the aircraft could be the most popular plane name in his airline's history.

"We are proud to be bringing the Spice Girls back in style for their home-coming tour, and back in time for Christmas, following their triumphant U.S. shows," Branson said.

One lucky fan selected from the 33,000 voters was flown out to Los Angeles to meet the Spice Girls.
