6.3M tune in for Part 1 of 'Tin Man'

NEW YORK, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Sci Fi Channel's "Tin Man," an updated version of L. Frank Baum's "Wonderful Wizard of Oz," is now the highest-rated telecast in the U.S. network's history.

More than 6.3 million viewers tuned in Sunday for the first installment of the three-part miniseries, the Sci Fi Channel said in a statement, citing ratings documented by Nielsen Media Research.

"Tin Man" trumps the 2002 miniseries, "Steven Spielberg Presents Taken," which was watched by 6.1 million viewers its first night, as the channel's biggest hit.

Part two of "Tin Man," starring Zooey Deschanel, Alan Cumming, Neal McDonough and Kathleen Robertson, aired Monday night.

The conclusion is set to run Tuesday evening.
