Hollywood parade to feature Bob Barker

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The city of Los Angeles has hired a private producer to revamp a holiday parade in Hollywood to keep the season’s spirit alive despite rising costs.

The Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce terminated their involvement in the Hollywood Santa Parade in March citing budget concerns. The 2006 event gave the chamber a $100,000 deficit on a $1 million tab, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

The parade is scheduled Nov. 25 and will feature Bob Barker, retired host of “The Price is Right," the cast from “High School Musical” and 35 bands and floats.

Firefighters from San Diego and Los Angeles will be saluted for their efforts containing wildfires that ravaged southern California in October.

City Council President Eric Garcetti said, “This was something I couldn’t in good conscience let die. This parade is one of the last free things families can do.”
