No arrests in death of ex-Ramones manager

NEW YORK, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Police in New York have interviewed Linda Stein's ex-boyfriend and former assistant but not named any suspects in the real estate agent's beating death.

A high-profile broker whose client list included Madonna, Sting and Angelina Jolie, Stein was also a former manager for the punk rock band the Ramones.

The medical examiner declared her death a homicide Wednesday, stating Stein died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

Stein's body was discovered Tuesday evening in her Manhattan apartment by her daughter, filmmaker Mandy Stein, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

Linda Stein's ex-beau, contractor Francisco Arena, told investigators he and the victim stayed friends after they broke up and insisted he had nothing to do with her death, sources told the newspaper

Police also talked to Stein's ex-assistant, Raoul Garcia Bernal, with whom Stein had reportedly had a recent quarrel.

Bernal wasn't charged but could be questioned again, the Daily News said, noting NYPD officials were careful not to describe him as a suspect.

Other friends of Stein, who battled breast cancer, suggested police talk to her marijuana dealers.
