SAN DIEGO, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- IDW Publishing, based in San Diego, says it plans to release a deluxe edition of its popular out-of-print graphic novel, "I Am Legend."

Richard Matheson's classic 1954 vampire novel served as the inspiration for the graphic novel, as well as several movies, including an upcoming film starring Will Smith.

"Our book is a very faithful adaptation of the novel itself," Chris Ryall, IDW's publisher and editor-in-chief said in a statement. "The upcoming movie will tell a variation on the story, but the graphic novel adaptation is the definitive take on the Richard Matheson book that has captured generations of fans."
