Rapper T.I. makes bail in Georgia

ATLANTA, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- U.S. rapper T.I. was released on $3 million bail Friday but was ordered under house arrest until his trial on weapons charges, TMZ.com reported.

Federal Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman said the rapper must pay for the 24-hour private monitoring service and stay in his home except for medical appointments and court appearances.

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, also may not own any guns and cannot have contact with any witnesses or informants in the case.

Harris was arraigned last week and entered a plea of innocent to the weapons charges.

He was arrested earlier this month for allegedly accepting three machine guns and two silencers.

A bodyguard for Harris provided information leading to the arrest in a sting operation last week, authorities said.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents alleged they found three other guns in the vehicle Harris was driving, including a loaded weapon under the driver’s seat.

A search warrant for Harris’s home in College Park, Ga., allegedly yielded six more weapons, five of which were loaded.
